Violin Concert  for Nor Jraberd A Smashing Success  

Montreal, April 29, 2007:  The Nor Jraberd Project Team of AGBU, in joint venture with the Bolsahay Foundation for this event, organized an exceptional and stunning fundraising concert, with the collaboration of the violin ensemble of the McGill Conservatory, “UNISON”, under the direction of Professor Luciné Balikian, on Sunday April 22, 2007.

 The Aram Khatchatourian sold out concert hall at the Bolsahay Centre, was filled with passionate multicultural listeners, who had all accepted to attend this concert, to encourage the young big-hearted virtuosos, all benevolent performers, to benefit the village of Nor Jraberd.  

 After an extraordinary preparation, perfectly orchestrated by their teacher Luciné Balikian, the violinists, made up of toddlers, juniors and seniors, composed and presented a round the globe violin tour commencing and closing with Bach, over flying famous berceuses of various countries, from Vietnam to Argentina, via Armenia; thus impressing the audience by their high level of professionalism.

Following the concert, at the reception offered by the Bolsahay ladies and warmly welcomed by the chief organizer of this successful happening, Mrs. Irma Basmajian, the fully dedicated executive secretary to NJRP, Armenian and non-Armenian guests mingled, shared and exchanged their knowledge about their passion, Armenia and philanthropic activities.  

Mr. Chahé Tanachian, the dynamic and enthusiastically devoted NJRP volunteer director of operations, and trilingual MC at this occasion, stated: “Together and united, musicians and public, have all sent a strong message of friendship and solidarity to the heroic people and children of Nor Jraberd”.  

Mr. Mego Malkhassian, the pan-Canadian NJRP project director, appointed by the Central Board of the AGBU, announced later happily: "We can be very proud of this achievement. We are particularly content by the fine partnership with the Bolsahay Association. Also, the full trust and confidence of their President Mr. Murat Armutlu contributed all the more to our success. We have raised sufficient funds and pledges to build one entire house in our new village of Nor Jraberd”.
